VersaLogic announces 10Gb Ethernet expansion board for PC/104 systems

(Tualatin, OR – November 2, 2022) VersaLogic Corporation expands its line of industrial temperature, rugged Ethernet expansion products with the new “E9” module. The new dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet expansion board provides an effective and reliable way to add high-speed 10Gb Ethernet to an embedded computer system.

Dual independent 10 Gigabit ports.

The E9 provides two independent IEEE 10Gb Ethernet RJ-45 ports which are backward compatible with slower ports (5GbE, 2.5GbE, and 1GbE), and will drive signals up to 100m on Cat 6A cable.

PCIe/104 format

The E9 is designed for PCIe/104 “3-bank” stack-down platforms as a plug-in expansion board.

Precision Time Protocol

The E9 includes IEEE 1588/802.1AS Precision Time Protocol support. This enables precise time-synchronization between network nodes in applications such as smart factory and smart security.

On-board Magnetic Isolation

Unlike other 10 GbE offerings, the E9 is completely self-contained with on-board magnetic isolation and RJ-45 jacks for ease of integration. There is no need for off-board magnetics, special cabling, or SFP modules.

Industrial Tough

The E9 is built for any application required to function in extreme environments. Fully tested thermal management assures reliable operation over the full industrial temperature range (-40° to +85°C). Latching connectors, soldered-down transceivers, and MIL-STD-202H shock and vibration testing ensure performance in the most demanding conditions. The EPM-E9E was engineered and validated to perform in real-world applications.

Customizable in Low OEM Quantities

The E9 is customizable, even in low OEM quantities. Customization options include conformal coating, revision locks, custom labeling, customized testing, customized screening, and pre-assembly with VersaLogic’s Sabertooth (EPMe-51) system.

Software Support

The E9 is compatible with a variety of popular operating systems such as Linux and Windows.

As with all VersaLogic products, the E9 Dual 10Gb Ethernet expansion board is designed for high reliability and long-term availability (10+ year typical production lifecycle).
